ACTION ITEM: Contact Alderman Frank Beach (UPDATE)
Thank you to all who have contacted Alderman Frank Beach to encourage him to continue to do everything he can to prevent the Maray Drive abortion clinic from opening. Mr. Beach graciously responded to many (if not all) of you who contacted him. While we are grateful for what he has done to protect the unborn, we are confused by his responses.
For example, Mr. Beach continues to say that he is “contacting a lawyer” to see how to proceed. But this is something he told us at Rockford Family Initiative in July. Why is it taking Mr. Beach months to consult his legal team?
Over two months ago, the Rockford City Administrator told Mr. Beach that he could make a proposal at the city council to specifically exclude an abortion clinic from opening on Maray Drive. While this proposal may have a small chance of passing, why doesn’t Mr. Beach make the proposal?
We know that there are many pro-abortion members of the city council, but it is possible that they could be persuaded to change the zoning. Either way, what is the harm in at least bringing up the issue?
Below is an email that a representative with Rockford Family Initiative sent to Mr. Beach on September 21. So far, we have received no response. Please take the time TODAY to follow up with Mr. Beach and kindly ask him to make a proposal at the city council that the zoning for the area including Maray Drive be amended to exclude abortion clinics.

Good Evening Mr. Beach,
I was forwarded a response you sent regarding the proposed abortion clinic on Maray Drive. First of all, thank you for everything you have done thus far to prevent abortion from coming to Rockford. I do have a couple questions concerning your response:
1) How long do you think it will take for your Legal Director to research the possibility of having the C-2 classification amended to exclude abortion clinics? I'm particularly curious because you told me weeks ago that you were consulting with your Legal Director regarding this... and nothing has happened yet. I know you understand that time is of the essence, and every minute that goes by we get closer to the possibility that dozens of babies will be killed every day in your ward on Maray Drive.
2) Why do you need to consult with your Legal Director, since the City Administrator told you that any alderman could propose amending the C-2 classification? I was at the meeting that you organized with the local businesses and city officials several weeks ago. At that meeting, the City Administrator explicitly said that any alderman could bring up a proposal to the city council to amend the C-2 zoning to specifically exclude abortion clinics.
